sf10vectordate-500.jpgHabitat for Humanity of Tulare County will raffle a special custom made Doll House at this year’s Visalia SpringFest being held at the Convention Center February 12th, 13th and 14th. The hope is to raise money and awareness for HfHTC’s new home repair and refurbishing programs in Tulare County. The dollhouse will be on display all weekend and the winning ticket will be chosen on Sunday, February 14th at the Visalia Convention Center. The tickets are 6 for $5 or $1 each & are available at the Habitat office at 715 S. Bridge Street. The winner does not need to be present to win and the playhouse will be delivered to the winner’s residence within Tulare County. Please contact Deanna at 734-4040.

buffy-kathy-500.jpgHouse Dedication

Habitat for Humanity dedicated the fourth “Rescued Homes” project at 2935 N. Giddings on Thursday, January 28th, 2010. Kathy Lasota and her Daughter Phyllis “Buffy” Edwards have been working on their home with Habitat staff and volunteers for approximately10 months. The three bedroom, two bath house was one of five foreclosed homes purchased by Habitat through the City of Visalia loan fund in 2009. The City’s loan fund has been renewed for $250,000 giving Habitat the opportunity to purchase four more foreclosed homes in 2010. Thank you to all the partners and volunteers who helped with this project and thank you to Pastor John Walker from First Assembly of God for dedicating the home.

nazira_0.jpg A special guest from our affiliate in Tajikistan!!

On December 9th, Nazira Rakhmatova, the Resource Development Manager from the Habitat for Humanity affiliate in Tajikistan, joined HFHTC staff, Board of Directors and guests for a very special International Christmas Party. HFHTC is one of the American affiliates that partners with Habitat Tajikistan through a special Tithe program from Habitat for Humanity International. Much of the funding for Habitat for Humanity Tajikistan comes from the Tithe program. The cost of building a 600 square foot house in Tajikistan is approximately $9000 - $12000 American . More than 60% of the Tajikistan population suffers from water-borne diseases because of inadequate water filtration systems. Part of the mission of the Habitat affiliate in Tajikistan is to try and bring these systems to families throughout the country. The cost to provide safe water for one family…$265.00.

Habitat for Humanity of Tulare County is very proud to partner with Habitat for Humanity Tajikistan and embrace the global mission of building stronger and healthier families!
