Lighthouse

Donated by Centex Homes: Built by Tom Butts

Tom works for Centex Homes and loves to take his construction skills into the Art arena. He loves building very unique playhouses and built a ship facade into the alter of a  Church in Lemoore. This beautiful birdhouse is made from recycled construction materials.

Auction Item 3

Starling for Attention

By Jennifer Pinheiro

Jennifer has made a birdhouse every year of the Birdhouse Auction. She works at Will Tiesiera Ford & Mercury as the controller and is a mother of two. Her creations are all made from recycled china.

Auction Item 4

  Row House

By David R. Griswold

“When one of my fences blew down 2 years ago, I could not throw away the good boards that had weathered over the past 20 years. My inspiration came from our very good friends and neighbors, Jonnie and Howard Lester who had given me a birdhouse as they packed up to move.“

Auction Item 5

Asian Getaway

By Jim Dinsmore

Jim made this birdhouse out of a scrape piece of spruce from an old Piano that was creatively turned into a Bar for a Client. Jim retired in 1996 after being a Covenant pastor for several years. Jim & Jolene moved from Minnesota to Tehachapi after selling their property, and then settled in Tehachapi. He hand built most of the furniture in his new house in the mission-arts & crafts style, and then started doing fine inlaid work with recycled wood as a hobby.

Auction Item 6

Quetzol Temple

By Richard Arenas

A native of the San Joaquin Valley, Mr. Arenas studied art at C.O.S. and California State. His work differs vastly from 7in bronze figures to 18 foot steel Mayan-inspired sculptures. He describes his work as ‘a variety of emotions’. Richard has taught sculpting and gives lectures throughout the valley.  This interesting piece was made in honor of the "Quetzol", a bird in mexico who's feathers are used to decorate traditional regalia.

Auction Item 7

Notin' But Natural

By Peter Hickey

This very special piece was made from what could be a 3000 year old sequoia tree. The tree was probably cut down 75-100 years ago and the piece here was part of the unusable scape that was left in the forest. Peter split this piece along the natuarl fault lines, hollowed out a section for the birdhouse and then screwed the piece back together to look as natural as possible.

Just like nature would make.

Auction Item 8

Presidential Suite

By Newell Harum

Auction Item 9

Nice Kitty

Marn Reich

This is the third birdhouse Marn has created . She usually works in uncolored stoneware, so creating the whimsical designs on this birdhouse was a rare delight. She began working in clay about 16 years ago and has taken classes and workshops all over California.  Her work has won ribbons from the Visalia Art League, the Tulare County Fair and she had a solo show in 2007 at the Arts Visalia Gallery. Marn is proud to say that there are pieces of her art in collections throughout the U.S.
