Habitat for Humanity of Tulare County

Craig Chew joined crews of Americorp Vista's from all over the World.

From May 11-16 2008, Craig had the privilege of attending the Jimmy Carter Work Project, which took place in the Gulf Coast region this year. Americorps members and volunteers from Habitat affiliates from all over the world, worked to build and renovate over 40 houses in Biloxi, Gulfport, and Pascagoula Mississippi.  Some on-going projects in Louisiana and Alabama were also worked on. "Although the region was still recovering from the effects of Hurricane Katrina, it was quite amazing to witness first-hand such a massive endeavor specifically aimed at completing all of these homes in 1 week" said Craig. "It was a fun experience but also served as a reminder that there is still much to be done in terms of recovery in the Gulf Coast region".
