What is Entertaiment?

Article

From the Fall 2011 issue of T E News:
Entertaiment is a consumer activity that is understood objectively, communicates with its audience through text and/or performance, derives its value from an external stimulus, offers pleasure, requires an audience to exist and occurs in a passive form. It can be as simple as watching a TV show or playing with a pet, or as complex as designing a theatrical production, building an arena for concerts or hosting a world-famous sporting event. The term is also used to describe games that prepare children for adult responsibilities (such as child rearing or group interaction), for developing the motor skills needed for sports and music, or for learning social norms through play.
